The responsibilities of Parliament Committee overseeing the government’s efficiency and accountability has been established with the authority to interview cabinet ministers before their appointment to office.
The change was made yesterday by the temporary committee formed to reform the parliament laws. The temporary committee decided that before being reviewed by the parliament floor, the names of appointees has to be sent to the Government Accountability Committee. And the Committee has to decide whether the nominees are capable of their job description.
Government Accountability Committee is now also charged with looking into the review of the nominees and interview about the goals for the term.
According to the new mandate of the committee, all presidential nominees need to be reviewed by the parliament except for the Vice President.
