Ministry of Finance has said that they have released the funds to three parties, as requested by the Elections Commission.

The Ministry revealed that as per the instruction of EC, MVR 12.7 million for MDP and MVR 2 million for JP and MDA have been credited within seven days of request.

EC had requested that the Finance Ministry release funds for three parties out of the four that are to receive funds from the state budget. That is with the exclusion of PPM.

MVR 26.2 million has been set for political parties from the state budget for the year.

EC had previously said that PPM needs to revise their yearly report in order to receive the funds. They noted that the request for funds will be sent to Finance Ministry as soon as possible, after they submit the revised report.
