First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that the decision to pursue civil suits against those who harass and bully the President's children was made in her capacity as their mother, on a personal level, and that there is no government involvement in this matter.
In a press release issued today, Madam Sajidha responded to comments made by MDP activist Mariyam Zubair (Mandhy) during an MDP protest, alleging that the President's son Umair Mohamed Muizzu uses vape. Madam Sajidha stated that these are false claims about Umair using vape.
"I want to firmly state for everyone's information that Umair is not someone who uses vape or tobacco in any way, nor has he ever done so," she said.
The press release stated that in addition to such comments, there have been statements made and spread that could negatively impact the children's educational life and social development.
"These actions have opened up opportunities that could negatively impact his entire future and compromise his safety. Umair is a 16-year-old child. He is also a child whose future is ahead of him and whose educational life is not yet complete. In addition, the fact that efforts to bully and harass my eldest child and eight-year-old youngest child have now begun is also difficult to accept," Madam Sajidha said in her statement.
In this matter, Madam Sajidha Mohamed has decided to file lawsuits against Mariyam Zubair (Mandhy), a prominent activist of the opposition MDP, MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail, and the party itself.
