Central Henveiru MP, Ali Azim has said that there was no need for the presidential commissions that were formed to investigated disappearances and deaths as well as the one that was formed to investigate corruption.

Speaking on a program on Raajje TV, Azim noted that the commissions were formed since independent institutions were not functioning properly. He added that with the super-majority that MDP has in the 19th parliament, works will be carried out to ensure the proper functioning of these institutions. He stressed that when works are going to be carried out like this, there was no point to grant powers to these commission just to arrest people.

He further highlighted that they haven't been able to look into issues of the previous government because the very same institutions have been cooperating properly.

MP Azim said that in order to truly ensure the independence of these institutions, people who are not in the political field need to be appointed to these institutions.
