This year's Eid-Al-Fitr congregation has been organized to be held at Maafannu Stadium.
Speaking to the press, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Ahmadullah Jameel revealed that the decision to hold the Eid prayer at the stadium was since they wanted a massive congregation for the prayer.
He added that Eid prayers will be carried out at 24 different mosques in the capital apart from the stadium, while a bigger congregation will be held in Villmale at the football ground and in Hulhumale, at the open land in front of Ghaazee School.
He also added that the Ministry had been receiving requests for permission to hold Eid congregations in open lands in the islands, and that it was advisable to do so. However, taking ill weather into mind, he requested that all islands must prepare the biggest mosques in each island for Eid prayers.
He added that the Police would be providing assistance in maintaining the traffic of the stadium area. Sub Inspector of Police, Mohamed Luthufee had also revealed that parking arrangements have been made at 'veli dhandu'.
Roads around the area will be closed at 6:30am as well.
