Two women - a mother and a daughter - have been arrested in connection with a drug-related case following a police raid in Hanimaadhoo.

Acting on a tip-off from Counter Narcotics Intelligence, authorities conducted a search operation yesterday, leading to the arrest of Aminath (56) and Fathimath Maya (25) of Hanimaadhoo.

According to police, a search of their residence resulted in the recovery of 189.69 grams of contraband, along with cash believed to be linked to drug-related activities.

Ali Ibrahim of the Hanimaadhoo Council stated that the two had moved to Hanimaadhoo from Malé five years ago. He claimed to have no knowledge of any illegal activities involving them.

The suspects were presented before the Hanimaadhoo Magistrate’s Court, which remanded Aminath in custody for five days
