Maldives Parliament on Wednesday passed to act on the Parliament Regulation that has been in effect since 2010, until it is revised.

It was passed with the votes of 80 members out of the 82 who attended the meeting. It was submitted by Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef, and backed by Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam.

It stated that as stipulated by Clause 88 (A) of the Constitution of Maldives, the Parliament will follow the regulations passed by the 17th session of the Parliament on March 2, 2010. It also states that a committee should be formed to revise the regulation, and a bill be submitted to the Parliament for approval within 30 days.

An 11 member committee was formed by the Parliament today to revise the regulation within 30 days.

The committee suggested by Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim includes; Maduvvari MP Adam Shareef, Thimarafushi MP Abdulla Riyaz, Naifaru MP Ahmed Siyam, Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir, Villingilli MP Saud Hussain, West Henveiru MP Hassan Latheef, Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam, Hulhudhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb, Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef along with Fonadhoo MP Moosa Siraj.

The committee was passed with the votes of 79 members.
