Parliament has approved Mohamed Zahidh and Abdul Rahman Salah Rasheed for Elections Commission membership.
On 12 December, the President nominated two candidates for appointment to the Election Commission.
In an extraordinary session on Tuesday, Parliament approved the appointments of Mohamed Zahid and Salah Rasheed to the Election Commission, each receiving 68 votes.
Zahid, now appointed to the Election Commission, previously served as a member and vice-president of the Human Rights Commission. Salah Rasheed has held roles as director and acting secretary general of the Election Commission and has also managed responsibilities at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The vacancies arose following the parliamentary approval to remove Vice-President Ali Nashat and member Mohamed Asif from the Election Commission.
