A State Electric Company (STELCO) staff has been injured during an attempt to deter a transformer robbery in Hulhumale'.
STELCO's Managing Director Hussain Fahmy, in a post on X, said that the perpetrator has been handed over to authorities. He added that acts of violence against STELCO staff will not be tolerated, calling for a swift investigation into the incident.
A photo shared on Fahmy's X account shows the staff suffered an injury above the left eye.
Additionally, the vandalism caused a power outage in the MPL towers in Hulhumalé Phase II. Fahmy confirmed that efforts were underway to restore electricity to the affected area as quickly as possible.
Investigation is underway currently.
