This past week was also one where a great amount of vehicles were given stickers for parking violations.
According to the latest statistics by the Traffic Management Department, around 700 stickers had been issued this past week for traffic violations. That is a total of 702 stickers for the period starting May 18 and ending May 24.
Police Media Official revealed to 'One Online' that first time violators are fined by MVR 250, and second time violators are fined by MVR 500. From the third time onwards, violators are fined by MVR 750.
If we are to assume that the minimum for every sticker is MVR 250, that still amounts to over MVR 175,000. This amount would increase several folds if we were to take second and third time violators into account.
Police revealed that the total number of stickers issued during the second week of Ramadan surpassed 800.
