Immigration Controller Mohamed Sham'aan has stated that the decision has been made to deport the French family that has been living in the Maldives without a visa.

In a post on X, the Immigration Controller said that information about a six-member French family was received by 'Immigration Watch' on July 18 this year. After investigating the matter, the head of the family involved in the case was summoned to Immigration on October 23 this year.

He also said that since the family's passports have expired, efforts are underway in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry to obtain the necessary travel documents to deport the family from the Maldives.

"No opportunity will be given to anyone to stay in the Maldives in violation of the Immigration Act," Shamaan said.

The French couple and their three children at the time came to the Maldives 12 years ago on a three-month tourist visa. They are currently living in Th. Veymandoo.
