Feline Welfare, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the welfare of street cats in Male', has expressed deep concern over an incident in which cats were sprayed with blue paint.
In a post on their Facebook page, the organisation condemned the act, which took place in the parking zone in front of Marry Brown.
According to the organisation, the cats had been cared for and fed by the group for several years, but some individuals recently subjected them to cruelty by spraying them with a harmful chemical. The post highlighted that the blue spray not only posed a risk to the health of the animals but also damaged their food. The organisation labelled the act as an intentional attempt to harm the cats.
Feline Welfare called for immediate measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the cats and urged authorities to take action against those responsible for this act of cruelty.
Meanwhile, the Male' City Council and the government have set up a special facility for the cats in Hulhumale'. While the facility has been officially opened, it has not yet started ferrying street cats to the site.
