A fire has broken out on a fuel transport vessel docked at F. Feeali harbour, with the blaze subsequently spreading to two additional boats in the vicinity.

The Police stated today that the incident was reported at approximately 9:15 AM, with a fuel vessel at Feeali harbour confirmed to be on fire. Police officers and relevant authorities are currently on the scene working to extinguish the blaze.

Feeali Council Member Mohamed Jaleel told "ONE" today that one individual sustained burn injuries in the fire and has been transported to the island's health centre for medical treatment.

"I heard the sound while taking my child to school. Following a loud explosion at around 9:10 AM, the ice plant is burning completely to the ground. The unloading shed is also on fire. One person has been taken to the health centre with burn injuries. It is a fuel vessel with a capacity of one hundred thousand litres — it typically carries two hundred thousand litres," Jaleel stated.

He further noted that two fishing vessels belonging to local residents, which were moored at the harbour, have also caught fire, along with one reef fishing vessel.
