IT outages have been reported across the world, affecting flights, banking and company operations in countries such as Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, India and Australia.
The disruption, linked to Microsoft's Windows, appears to stem from an issue with cybersecurity software firm CrowdStrike.
CrowdStrike acknowledged on Friday that it had received "widespread reports of BSODs on Windows hosts", referring to the "blue screen of death" commonly used to describe a system crash on Microsoft's Windows operating system.
Additionally, Malaysia’s railway operator KTMB confirmed that its KITS ticketing system, as well as all of its customer service channels, are experiencing technical difficulties due to the CrowdStrike issue.
AirAsia, Jetstar and Cebu Pacific's check-in systems at Changi Airport's Terminal 4 have been disrupted by the global IT outage as well.
