Maldives Police Service is investigating a case of gang intimidation of a police officer and their family.

Police revealed that the men involved in the threatening of a police forensic officer are facing drug-related charges. They further revealed that the wife of the officer was unwillingly touched and blackmailed in the presence of their son.

In response, Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan stated last night that they were investigating the matter, but no evidence of any gang-related criminal activity at the Police apartment residence in Hulhumalé had been found so far.

It is learned that the policeman is being threatened in connection with a drug case pending in the Criminal Court.
