ABC has renewed the longest running medical drama of all time, "Grey's Anatomy' for two more seasons.

With the renewal, the show is expected to run through it's 17th season. ABC also renewed two other series from the Shondaland banner, "Station 19" and "How to Get Away with Murder," which will enter their third and sixth seasons, respectively.

"Station 19" is the second spin-off of the "Grey's Anatomy" universe. The first, "Private Practice," ran for six seasons from 2007-2013.

The finale of season 15 of "Grey's Anatomy" isn’t airing until May 16, but the 16th season’s air date hasn’t been announced yet. Looking at previous seasons, however, we can make a strong prediction that it’s airing on Thursday, September 26. Plus, Shonda said, “Everyone at Shondaland is thrilled that our fans’ commitment to #TGIT continues,” so we don’t think she’s changing up the weekday.

It’s confirmed that Ellen will return to portray the lead character Dr. Meredith Grey for the next two seasons, according to Deadline. Last year, the actress signed a contract for seasons 15 and 16, which made her TV’s highest-paid leading woman on a primetime drama series. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, her new deal tacks on one more season.

This comes as a surprise to everyone as Ellen recently told Entertainment Weekly that she was “definitely looking for a change.”
