Meral Ayn Latheef has renewed the national record in thewomen's long course 100 meter butterfly event.

Meral set the record this time by competing in the 19th National Swimming Championships in Singapore. Meral set the national record with a time of 1 minute 13.96 seconds.

The previous national record in 100 meters butterfly was also held by Meral herself. This record was made at the 19th Asian Games held in China last year after she completed the race with a time of 1 minute and 13.99 seconds.

Earlier this year, she also broke multiple national records in February at the Midfield and Street County Qualifier in England, including the short course 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly events, as well as the 200m medley event.

At just 15 years old, Meral is now setting her sights on qualifying for the Olympics.
