Male' City Council has announced a vehicle ban in Male' area on the eve of Eid al-Adha.
In an announcement posted in the Gazette on Thursday, City Council said that the Council has decided that all public roads in Male', Vilimale', and Hulhumale' as vehicle-free zones from 1600hrs to 1800hrs on Eid to facilitate Eid celebrations.
"As such, we are announcing to inform the public that engine-powered and battery-powered vehicles are banned in Male', Vilimale', and Hulhumale' from 1600-1800hrs on Eid. We will seek legal action against those who violate the vehicle ban," City Council said.
City Council added that special stickers will be given to vehicles traveling in emergency situations during the vehicle-ban hours. The Council said that the stickers would be available from the Council's Public Service Department.
The City Council said that the stickers will be issued from Thaisey Koshi on Friday from 1400-1600hrs and 2100-2300hrs, and on Saturday from 1000-1400hrs and 2100-2300hrs.
