With the release of Disney's latest release schedule, they have confirmed three new Star Wars movies along with three sequels to Avatar.

The Star Wars and Avatar trilogies are set to alternate each year, with the second installment of Avatar hitting theaters in 2021. While the first of the three new Star Wars movies hits theaters during December of 2022, it is unsure whether they would continue the skywalker saga since they are expected to wrap the 20 year old saga with 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' coming December.

The original Avatar became the highest-grossing film ever when it was released in 2009, earning $2.8bn. However, Avengers: Endgame is fast catching it up, on $2.24bn and counting within just two weeks of release.

Disney's release schedule also confirms eight new movies for Marvel, which are to be in phase four of the MCU. Some of these movies include sequels to their blockbusters such as Black Panther and Doctor Strange while some are set to be brand new movies in the MCU such as the Black Widow movie along with The Eternals, which is expected to star Hollywood powerhouse, Angelina Jolie in the lead.
