Maldivian students studying in Saudi Arabia have been appointed as official representatives of the Hajj Mission.

Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced that Maldivian students studying in Saudi Arabia will be given the opportunity every year henceforth.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed previously met with the students in Saudi Arabia and assured them such opportunities will be provided to them.

Minister Dr. Shaheem said that the students residing in Saudi Arabia have been officially allowed to participate in the Hajj pilgrimage to provide assistance to the pilgrims.

"It is important for people who know Arabic to be present in the buses traveling with the 1,000 pilgrims who are going to perform Hajj. Without people who speak the language, the pilgrims face difficulties during Hajj," he said.

Minister Dr. Shaheem further said that this would provide convenience to the pilgrims and that this is not a common practice in other countries.
