The government on Tuesday announced the list of 1,015 students who have been awarded the student loan.

Higher Education Minister Dr Maryam Mariya told a press conference at the Umar Zahir Building today that 1,709 students have applied for loans for higher education and training this year.

A total of 1,153 students have qualified for this year's loans, of which 1,015 eligible students are set to receive the loan.

Even though applications were open for only 500 slots, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided to award loans to all eligible students who applied for the loan.

The 1,015 students who qualified for the loan will receive a sponsor letter on Thursday.
