The Bill to amend the law to ban Israeli passports to prevent Israeli citizens from entering the country has been referred to the Security Services Committee (241 Committee) for consideration.
PNC PG Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah decided to refer the Bill moved by MDP MP Meekail Ahmed to the committee during the Parliament sitting held today.
Speaking during the debate on the Bill, Falah said the Bill is very important.
Falah noted that while the genocide in Palestine heightened since October 2023, then President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih did not ban Israeli passports through a Presidential decree. He said the Bill could have been submitted to the MDP-majority led Parliament and passed immediately as well.
Referring the matter to the 241 Committee, Falah extended cooperation for the work done sincerely.
