Criminal records can now be cleared within the same day, Prosecutor General's (PG) Office has said.

According to PG Office, the change has come into effect starting Thursday.

Prior to this, criminal records were provided the following day after submissions were made to PG Office counter.

With the new enhancement of the service, applications submitted to the counter in the morning will be cleared and records will be made available by 1330hrs the same day and applications submitted after noon will be available at 0900hrs the following day.

Additionally, if the applicant does not have a criminal record, the record document will be provided immediately.

PG Office added that criminal records will be available within 10 minutes for online applications for those without a criminal record.
