Minister Abdulla Mutthalib has stated that the Administration will carry out a modular housing project in Rasmale'.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), which carried out the Hiyaa flat project in Hulhumale' Phase II, has expressed interest in developing 15,000 housing units in Rasmale'.

Speaking at a press conference held by the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, the Minister said that a modular housing project will be carried out in Rasmale' and a technical team of the Ministry has visited China to explore ways to do so.

"We will carry out a modular housing project in Rasmale'. The project will cover 15,000 housing units in Rasmale'," he said.

The Minister said the housing units are being developed at a high quality so that they can be carried out at a very fast pace.

He said the Administration hopes to get detailed cost and technical proposal soon from CSCEC, which has shown interest in executing the project, so that an agreement can be reached and the work will begin.

The Minister also said that the equipment for the project will also be produced in the Maldives and the factory for the same will be built on the first land to be acquired from Rasmale'.
