Dh. Maaenboodhoo has been flooded due to tidal waves.

President of Maaenbudhoo Council Yusuf Saeed told 'One' today that the high tidal waves occurred on Monday afternoon. Yusuf Saeed said that the high tide was on the western side of the island with geobags attached to it.

"Half of the island was flooded and water levelled up to two feet in some areas. Six houses were flooded with water. However, there was no damage to tangible property," he said.

He said sand bags have been installed to prevent water from entering the houses.

It is possible that agricultural land has been damaged due to the high tide and an assessment is underway, said Yusuf Saeed, adding that the direct damage caused by the tide will be known one the tides recede.
