The Agriculture Ministry on Monday said it has disbursed loans worth MVR 13 million to farmers till April this year.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Minister of State for Agriculture Mariam Vishama said that loans worth MVR 4 million have been disbursed to individual farmer and MVR 8 million to businesses till April.

"A total of MVR 13 million has been disbursed in loans so far," she said.

Vishama said the loans were sanctioned in collaboration with the SDFC.

Loans worth MVR 13 million have been sanctioned to farmers and the Agriculture and Animal Welfare Ministry has also launched a matching scheme of MVR 15 million to provide financial assistance to farmers and agricultural enthusiasts.
