Maldives Meteorology has stated that the weather is expected to improve over the next two days.
A MET Office official told One Online today that rain is expected in parts of the country over the next 24 hours. However, the weather is improving somewhat compared to last week.
"Winds will be between 8 and 18 mph in the southern part of the country. Seas will be calm. Strong still in the central part of the country. Wind speed will be between 15 and 25 mph. Slowly decreasing, with the forecast for tomorrow looking good," the official stated.
The MET Office official added that the seas in the central and northern parts of the country are not calm. The highest rainfall in the past 24 hours was recorded in Laamu Maavah with 95 milliliters of rainfall.
Over the past week, the weather across the country had been exceptionally bad with the authorities urging people to be vigilant. They are also advising people not to travel unless it is necessary.
The Ministry of Education on Thursday ordered the first three days of the new academic year to be shortened due to bad weather.
