Male' City Council has passed to name a street in Male' City to honour Palestine.

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim made the suggestion at the City Council meeting held on Thursday.

Speaking at the Council Meeting, Mayor Azim said that Maldives has always had a close connection to Palestine. As such, the Mayor made the suggestion to rename a street in Male' City after Palestine.

Except for 1 member, all members in attendance at the Council meeting voted to pass the resolution by the Mayor.

Mayor Azim said that the street name and details will be shared with the Council soon and that a special ceremony will be held to inaugurate the new street name as well.
