Hassan Zareer has resigned as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BML to take over as the Commissioner General of Taxation.

Zareer was appointed as the Chairman of BML on March 25 this year.

The Parliament approved the appointment of Zareer as the Commissioner General of Taxation on the 13th of this month. 41 members voted in favor of Zareer's appointment as Commissioner General of Taxation.

The post of Tax Commissioner became vacant after the incumbent Fathullah Jameel resigned to contest the parliamentary elections.

According to the bank's bylaws, the bank's board consists of 11 members including eight members appointed by the government and three members elected by the common shareholders.

With Zameer's resignation, the bank's board consists of nine directors. It follows the vacancy of two government-appointed members.

The bank aims to hold a special general meeting in July to appoint members to fill vacancies.
