President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to depart for the fourth meeting of the Conference of Small Island Development States (SIDS) tomorrow.

The conference will be held in Antigua and Barbuda from the 27th to the 30th of this month, Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office, Heena Waleed told a news conference today.

Heena said President Muizzu will address the SIDS conference and will meet with leaders of various countries to discuss strengthening relations and related issues.

Heena said the President will make seven statements at the conference.

The theme of this year's SIDS Conference is "Charting the Course Toward Resilient Prosperity".

Heena said that in addition to Maldives' participation in the conference, the country will organize three activities. The challenges faced by the Maldives and the assistance it needs will also be shared during the conference.

Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, Climate Change, Environment and Energy Minister Thorig Ibrahim, Housing, Land and Infrastructure Development Minister Dr. Ali Haider will accompany the President. Climate Envoy Ali Shareef, HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Ambassador at Large Dr. Ali Naseer Mohammed will also attend the conference.

The SIDS conference is held every 10 years.

The conference will discuss ways to achieve the goals set for sustainable development. The conference will also discuss the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
