MET Office warns caution over bad weather

MET Office has issued an orange alert from B. Atoll to M. Atoll due to bad weather.

In an alert issued for 1730hrs and 2030hrs, the MET Office said wind speeds reaching 36-42 miles per hour and gusting up to 60 miles per hour and rough seas are likely to prevail.

The MET Office issues an orange alert after 90 mm of rainfall in an hour and winds reaching 63 miles per hour.

An orange alert has been issued for eight atolls in the Maldives, while the MET Office has forecast moderate to heavy to very heavy rainfall in the north and central parts of the country for the next three days.
