Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has extended the deadline for the removal of huts built by various public parties in the beach area of Hulhumale Phase 2.

HDC last Tuesday ordered the removal of huts built by various public parties in the area as they seek to develop the grounds further. The corporation ordered the huts to be removed before the 30th of this month.

HDC Assistant Manager and Public Relations Mohamed Siraj told One Online yesterday that the huts and snack tents operating in the beach area of Phase 2 will be temporarily relocated to the vacant land north of the area.

"There are temporary huts now. So we are calling for the development of the place to beautify it and open up the opportunity for business. That is why the removal has been ordered," he said.

HDC has also been criticized for allocating additional land to businesses operating without permits.

Therefore, the HDC issued an announcement yesterday asking the businesses to remove the temporary huts before the 15th of next month.

The first order to remove the huts and items on the vacant land near Hiyaa Tower 12 in the beach area of Phase 2 was issued on November 16,
