Newly elected Member of Parliament for Kurendhoo constituency, Shamin Habib, has signed on to the ruling party PNC.

Shamin contested for the Parliament as an independent member and won the election with 40 percent of votes against Adam Taufeeq's 29 percent of votes. Adam Taufeeq contested on a PNC ticket.

Shamin signed for PNC and presented his membership form to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held at Muliaage on Sunday.

With Shamin signing for PNC, the number of PNC members in the new Parliament have gone up to 74.

The ruling coalition now has 78 seats in the Parliament with 74 for PNC, 1 for JP, 1 for MNP, and 2 for MDA.
