Ooredoo Maldives has announced Landhoo as the first digital island in the Maldives.

Ooredoo said that the launch of Ooredoo Digital Island Initiative in Landhoo has taken the company's efforts to build a digital Maldives with the help of AI one step further.

Ooredoo, in collaboration with The Landhoo Council, will take the initiative to revolutionize the socio-economic landscape of the island and through strategic partnerships and ejadi digital solutions, the Ooredoo Digital Island Program aims to provide more avenues for the development and development of critical sectors, especially health, education and business.

Ooredoo Chief Executive Officer Khalid Al Hamadi said it is an honour to declare Landhoo as the inaugural island of The Ooredoo Digital Island Program.

"The integration of our digital payment platform, M-Paisa, into the daily lives of The Landhoo people last year is a big boost in cash transactions for the residents. It is important to note that eighty percent of all transactions through Ooredoo are digitally done," Khalid al-Hamadi said.

President of Landhoo Council, Abdul Aziz Mohamed said they are deeply grateful to Ooredoo Maldives for their initiative.

"Our council has a vision to leverage technology to improve public services and overall living conditions for the villagers. We look forward to collaborating with Ooredoo Maldives to introduce new-age digital solutions that will benefit the people of Landhoo further," he said.
