The Saudi Fund for Development has provided a total loan of MVR 150 million to the Maldives for the development of the health sector.

Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafiq signed the loan agreement on behalf of the Ministry of Finance at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance today.

As part of these agreements, USD 100 million will be provided under the VIA development agreement, and USD 50 million will be provided under the agreement to develop the health sector.

Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, said the USD 100 million loan assistance for the development of via was an addition to previous aid.

He said the assistance was aimed at improving the quality of healthcare provided in rural areas of the country.
