COO of Tree Top Hospital Adil Moosa has stated that the necessary facilities for kidney transplants are available at the hospital, adding that the government to permit such transplants.
Speaking at a press conference at Tree Top Hospital yesterday, Adil said he had submitted to the government in 2022 the need to start kidney transplant treatment in the Maldives along with IVF services. Many meetings have been held and documents have been shared with the government, he revealed.
Adil said Tree Top is delaying it because of the lack of laws, regulations, and processes in place. Every day lost due to the lack of rules to start something is a day lost for kidney patients in the country.
"If the government gives permission, we will be able to start the kidney transplant set-up within the next six months. The set-up is already in place at this hospital. Hopefully working with the government will bring a solution" he said.
