Island Aviation, the operator of Maldivian Airlines, has announced that they are seeking to lease a narrow-body aircraft to start flights to more destinations abroad.

Island Aviation said in an announcement yesterday that it is looking for an Airbus A-319 or A-320. The Airbus A-319 is a 156-seat aircraft with a range of 3,700 miles. The Airbus A-320 is a 180-seat aircraft with a range of 3,900 miles.

The craft is to be leased for a period of three years and proposals can be submitted by this month.

Maldivian already has an Airbus A-320 in its fleet. The aircraft is used to travel to nearby destinations.

Island Aviation, announced the procurement of an Airbus narrow-body aircraft, while the company announced the procurement of an Airbus wide-body aircraft on 31 December 2023.
