Maldives Medical Association (MMA) has condemned the use of photos on social media in a manner that defames doctors working at IGMH and prevents them from discharging their duties.
"Some people have been circulating pictures on social media targeting healthcare professionals, especially doctors, on social media in a manner that undermines the value of the valuable services of healthcare workers and undermine their confidence in the services provided by the health sector," MMA said in a statement.
MMA added that health workers working in the Maldives are working with a variety of challenges, and that spreading false allegations without proof disheartens the medical professionals who are working tirelessly to serve the public.
MMA said that the spread of such rumours in the community without knowing the facts and the full details will have the greatest impact on the general public in need of health care.
