Retired Chief of Defense Force Lt. Gen. Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef has been appointed State Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Army rules, the maximum age for retention in service is 60 years. Therefore, Abdul Raheem received and honorable retirement on the 17th of last month at the age of 60.
Abdul Raheem was appointed to a political post in the Foreign Ministry when he attended a meeting held by the ministry yesterday.
Along with photos of the meeting, the ministry's post on X shows that Abdul Raheem attended the meeting as a state minister.
According to some media reports, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu p;and to appoint him as Maldives' first ambassador to Turkey. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
