Parliament on Monday approved the appointment of ambassadors to China, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed Thoha was nominated as the Ambassador of the Maldives to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Fazeel Najeeb was nominated as the Ambassador of the Maldives to Bangladesh, and Shiunin Rasheed was nominated as the Ambassador of the Maldives to Bangladesh.
Following their nomination by the President, their names were referred to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament for further consideration.
The committee also approved the three candidates in their report. Therefore, the parliament passed a vote to approve the three nominations.
Earlier, Dr. Fazeel has held senior positions in various governments. These include the Governor of the MMA and the State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He also holds a Masters Degree in International Business Law from the UK. Fazeel held various positions in the Ministry of Trade from 1987 to 2004.
Shiuneen has also served in the foreign service in the past.
Mohammed Thoha holds a degree from the Faculty of Sharia of Medina Islamic University. He also completed his Master's degree in Law from the National University of Dhaka. Thoha is currently pursuing his PhD at the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
