Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has revealed that they will issue discounts on the water bills for April.

While this discount is being offered for the month of April, discounts were applied for both water and electricity bills during Ramadan.

MWSC said in a statement today that the discount was given to its domestic customers for bills sent from March 11 to April 11 during the month of Ramadan. The noted that it amounted to MVR 14 million, which is 25 percent of the domestic category.

Their announcement further stated that although 10 percent discount is being issued, if the bill amount remains higher than that of March, further reductions will be made. While the amounts generated by both months will be matched, if the balanced amounts remain lower than 10 percent of the discount, the reductions will still be enforced up to 10 percent. Moreover, the company has also assured that discounts will be given to water bill of households that newly began the service supply as well.

The company said details of the changes will be sent via SMS starting today. Details of the changes will also be notified once the discount is available to those who have already received their bills.
