STELCO has announced that it will give discounts on next month's electricity bills to those who paid their bills before the government decided to give discounts on the remaining part of last Ramadan.
STELCO decided to give discounts in line with the President's decision after expressing concern over the increase in electricity bills. However, some people paid the bill before the discount was applied.
Managing Director of STELCO Hussain Fahmy posted on X last night that the discount will be deducted from next month's bill.
“The discount has been included in the bills sent in April, including the days of Ramadan, and the latest bills, including the remaining days of Ramadan, have been included in the discount," he said.
Fahmy said the difference would be deducted from the following month's bills for bills paid before the discount is included.
“I assure you that STELCO will always continue to do everything to facilitate the people in providing the full service they desire in line with the strong policies of the government,” he said.
Fahmi said STELCO has given a discount of MVR 20 million during the month of Ramadan.
