MDP has decided to conduct a study to determine the cause of their loss in the last two major elections.
After their defeat at the two elections, MDP decided to conduct a study to find out the reasons for the defeat and prepare a roadmap after finding out the people's views on the future of the MDP.
Speaking at a press conference after the National Congress meeting, the party chairman Fayyaz Ismail said it would be known after the study whether the party lost the elections because of the way it campaigned or because of a leadership problem. Finding out the reason is information that the leadership needs as much as the general members.
Speaking at a press conference, MDP President Abdullah Shahid said the party failed in the 2013 presidential election and won few seats in the 2014 parliamentary elections. He said the MDP won the 2018 presidential and 2019 parliamentary elections by studying the failures of the two elections and correcting the issues.
"Tonight we have decided, the National Congress has decided to conduct a similar study. Hopefully in the light of that study we will win the next presidential election. And the next parliamentary election," he explained.
He said the party's affairs will continue in that order and the future of the MDP and the Maldives is bright. MDP is accustomed to success and failure, he said.
