MDP President and former Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid has stated that MDP will win the next presidential and parliamentary elections.
Speaking to reporters after the party's National Congress held at the party headquarters last night, Shahid said MDP has been working in a certain order since the beginning. He noted that while the 2013 presidential election was a failure for MDP, they were able to secure only a few seats at the 2014 Parliamentary Elections. After losing two elections, MDP held a meeting of the National Congress and conducted a study to identify areas for improvement.
After solving the issues that were identified, MDP won the 2018 presidential and 2019 parliamentary elections.
"Tonight we have decided, the National Congress has decided to conduct a similar study. Hopefully in the light of that study we will win the next presidential election. And the next parliamentary election," Shahid explained.
Shahid said the party's affairs will continue in that order and the future of the MDP is bright. The future of Maldives is also bright, he said.
MDP is used to success and failure, he said. The National Congress decided tonight to rearrange itself and serve in accordance with the MDP policy, Shahid said.
