Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has cancelled the online applications made towards the purchase of Vinares flats through the portal.

Online applications for the portal were opened by HDC on 5 November 2023.

In a statement, HDC said the Corporation has received several complaints explaining technical glitches and difficulties in filing applications through the online portal.

Based on these complaints, it was found that there were technical glitches in the process of applying through the portal and due to this, applications through the portal were rejected as many people had lost the opportunity to apply.

According to HDC, the Corporation has also received complaints from several people who have not been able to get housing due to various projects initiated to build flats in Hulhumale', but the project has not been stalled due to various reasons.

".. As part of the present government's efforts to provide them with housing, we have informed them that we will not be able to open the Vinares apartment further for sale as we are trying to find a solution to the extent possible through the Vinares project," HDC said in a statement.

HDC said that in line with the government's target, the corporation is committed to providing more housing opportunities and addressing the housing problems faced by the residents of the male' area.

The corporation has also received complaints that Vinares is trying to extort money fraudulently in the name of selling apartments and wants attention.
