Maldives Meteorology (MET) has revealed that 167 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Addu City in the past 24 hours.

According to the Met Office, the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours was recorded in Gan in Adduu City. A total of 167.7 milliliters of rain was recorded in the island.

The Addu City Council said in a Facebook post that the rains have caused flooding in various parts of the city. Two households were evacuated.

In addition, more than 40 houses were reported as flooded. The MNDF Southern Area troops and Gan police have assisted to prevent the water from entering the more houses.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said yesterday that floods have affected some houses in the city. Four houses were flooded to the point where it was difficult to live in. The families living in the houses are being evacuated to temporary shelters.
