The Department of National Registration (DNR) and Dhiraagu have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to protect people from scam calls.

As part of the agreement, the authenticity of Dhiraagu's services to the people can be verified through DNR data and will go a long way in curbing the ongoing scam calls.

"If anyone goes to collect a SIM card or applies for any service from Dhiraagu, their information can be verified using the information available in the DNR. This will also prevent fraudulent collection of SIM cards," DNR said.

According to the department, the agreement will lay down the procedures to be followed by both the parties, and once the agreement is signed, the DNR will be able to share information about locals maintained by DNR through its API authentication credentials.
