Out of the females candidates contesting for Parliamentary Election, only three secured seats in the 20th Parliament.

All three candidates - Fathimath Saudha for Nilandhoo constituency, Anara Naeem for Huraa Constituency and Asma Rasheed for Maafannu Medhu constituency - all contested as PNC candidates.

Although 43 women contested in the election, only 3 secured seats in the Parliament.

Anara secured her seat with 769 votes - 39.20 percent of the votes while Saudha secured her seat with 1,137 votes - 64.71 percent of votes and Asma secured her seat with 866 votes - 45.25 percent of votes.

Anara and Asma have both held seats in the Parliament before.
