Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has said that the candidates who won seats in the 20th Parliament will remain steadfast in holding the Government accountable.

PNC secured a total of 68 seats, guaranteeing a super majority for the ruling party, while MDP secured 10 seats in the Parliament.

In a press statement issued on Sunday night, MDP said that they hope the current Administration will work for the betterment of the nation and will not stop projects started by the former government.

"The biggest responsibility of the members in the parliament is to hold the Government accountable. All the members who have been elected should maintain focus on this. MDP will continue to hold the Government accountable," the Party said.

MDP said the party will always remain steadfast in advocating for the public and ensuring democracy is maintained in the Maldives.

The party also congratulated all the candidates who won seats in the 20th Parliament.
