Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Aslam and Galolhu Uthuru MP Eva Abdulla lost at the Parliamentary election.

Aslam is one of the most senior MP's at the parliament, having served four terms as an MP.

Seven candidates contested for Hithadhoo Uthuru seat this round, with Mohamed Sinan from PNC winning a majority of votes to secure the constituency.

This marks the first time PNC has won the constituency.

Eva, who has served three terms at the Parliament, lost the constituency to MDP's Mohamed Ibrahim.

Eva conceded to the newly elected member and offered congratulations to the new member.
